Hello Tulsa Chapter!

September is finally here! The first month of Autumn or shall I say the Fall season! College and Professional Football begins!  Not sure why am I acting like I know about either one of these events but, I do know we have a lot of sports enthusiastic members, and you are surely happy, this time of the year! (I was told I should say “Go Hogs”!)

The August Chapter Meeting was hosted by Lori Heerlyn current Vice President, it took place at Ti Amo’s with Lisa Riley filling in as our guest speaker, what a great idea inviting her a she was definitely well received.  The reviews from our survey were wonderful on all accounts and I believe Lori has quite frankly “Got This”, we are going to be in good hands, and I think we all can agree that Ti Amo’s is a great place to meet! Thank you, Lori and Felicia, for your TEXOMA updates and we enjoyed hearing from Felicia about her new venture “Letuce by Felicia”.

The September Chapter Meeting is our Executive of the Year event.  We have elected to honor all executives because of their support of EWI during these challenging times.  This event will take place at the Marriott Tulsa Hotel Southern Hills, our speaker is Felicia Senter representing Tulsa Tech, she will speak to “Perseverance during a Pandemic”, the food has been selected and the wine is on order, we just need you!

September 10th is the last day to sign up for EWI's Leadership Conference and Annual Meeting (LCAM).  This is our annual professional development conference where members from all Chapters gather to connect, network, and grow professionally through keynote speakers, workshops, seminars, group discussions, and more, September 16 – 18 in Albuquerque, NM.

The October meeting is the last meeting for the 2020-2021 EWI Tulsa Board Members and oh, how I have loved working with these ladies!  It is also a business meeting and the installation of the 2021-2022 Board Members. Please note that this meeting has been pushed out a week and is being planned for October 21st, the third Thursday of the month.

We have had many popular door prizes at our monthly meetings, and it is very much appreciated!  If you would like to contribute a door prize for September &/or October, please contact Lori Heerlyn at lori.heerlyn@tdwilliamson.com.

What is Labor Day?... It is an annual celebration of the social and economic achievements of American workers.  So, Happy Labor Day, EWI of Tulsa and to all the firms that help us prosper!

Remember, at EWI of Tulsa, we are professional women coming together to help our companies, our careers and our communities thrive.

Stay connected,

Check out this very sweet note sent to us from Amy Nguyen.  In 2019, Amy was a first place EWISP recipient and received an $8,000 scholarship.  She is currently a Junior at The University of Tulsa.

"I want to extend my sincerest gratitude to the program and the EWI Tulsa chapter. This organization has alleviated many of my previous concerns for college and financially supported my college career. Thank you all for helping me pursue a higher education. I am happy to say that with your assistance, I am on track to take the MCAT next semester and start the application process for medical school. I would not have been able to do this without the generosity of the EWI Scholarship Program."

Say "Hi" to Curry who joined the
EWI Board Meeting at LDKerns office in August!

Try Meditation

Feeling stuck in a rut creatively?

Try meditation to kick start your creative process. Although meditation’s purpose is to calm the mind and reduce stress level, it also has a physical effect on your brain.

The simple act of regular meditation frees up the parts of your brain that deal with memory, focus and cognitive ability. Research has shown that meditating stimulates the high-frequency brain waves that signal attention and perception — all qualities associated with creativity.
Modern life causes us to be constantly overstimulated, but research has shown meditation can reduce the hypervigilance of your reptile brain, increasing creative potential and more.
