President's Letter

Greetings Tulsa Chapter!

Are you familiar with the expression “it seems like yesterday”?  As I was visiting with my daughter and friend from OKC, I shared with them that my term as Chapter President was coming to a close.  Each reacted by saying “has it been a year?”.  It does seem like yesterday. And, what a year it has been!

For me, it is bittersweet.  I credit Felicia Senter (past Corporate President at the time of this writing), my current board members, advisors and Chapter members for helping me keep the “Can Do Will Do” attitude alive.  I would like to reflect on a few of the highlights from this year:
  • Honored Lynda Wingo as Executive of the Year in November
  • Supported DVIS by providing Christmas gifts to two families in December
  • Started the new year off with a health and wellness presentation at Saint Francis Health Zone in January
  • Revealed our Secret Sweethearts organized by Eva Blair at a firm night hosted by the Hyatt in February
  • Enjoyed a firm night hosted by Stoney Creek Hotel & Conference Center while bidding farewell to Frank.  Toasted the Tulsa Chapter on their 64th Year Anniversary in March.
  • Awarded $23K in scholarships to EWISP & ASIST applicants
  • Our monthly Zoom meetings highlighted many good speakers to include Retired Homicide Detective, Sgt. Dave Walker, Gregg Shinn with Mental Health Association of Oklahoma, and Allison Greco with Continuous Improvement International
  • Susan Miller compiled and distributed a Pandemic Cookbook which included recipes from our Chapter members along with other sister Chapters
  • 21 plus members attended virtual LCAM while supporting and celebrating Felicia Senter’s service as EWI Corporate President
  • Our Chapter once again was recognized at LCAM for being among the elite and was awarded “Chapter of Excellence” and received recognition for retention.  This initiative was led by Reta Hallam

While we had many highlights, it has been a challenging year for many. Several of our members and their family members have faced health and employment challenges.  Please keep these members in your prayers and please take a moment to reach out to them.

October’s Monthly Meeting will be a business meeting along with the installation of the 2020-2021 Board. It will be a Zoom meeting.  Please make every attempt to attend.  If you have yet to participate in a Zoom meeting and need help, please reach out to Samantha Schultz.

Thank you for allowing me to serve you this year as Chapter President.
To this end, we should all be inspired by this quote by Winston Churchill, “Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference”.

Respectfully yours,

Trish

September Meeting Highlights

September's meeting was all about Continuous Improvement and Implementation with Allison Greco as our speaker!
LCAM 2020 was a SUCCESS!
We presented our Chapter President, Trish Richey, Helmerich & Payne with a Presidential corsage in honor of LCAM tradition.
We watched our amazing Corporate President, Felicia Senter,
Tulsa Tech, wrap up her year at the 2020 LCAM.
Comments on Meeting:
  • This was one of my favorite speakers. Allison is very well spoken and inspirational for women.
  • The speaker was excellent. Allison would be such a positive role model to young girls.
  • Allison Greco has a very impressive life story with a promising future promoting her business Continuous Improvement International by teaching people the tools and techniques they need.
  • Stellar efforts to keep us together and engaged. Everyone doing what they can and it is very appreciated!

Tech Tip!
Report Junk Texts and Stick it to the Scammers

Junk texts are downright annoying. You can block them, but it feels good to take action, too.

Report texts to the GSMA’s Reporting Service with just a few clicks. Forward the message to 7726 (guess what that spells?) or just hit “Report junk” in your messaging app.
