Enjoying hearing from our speaker, Cara Hair, VP Corporate Services and Chief Legal & Compliance Officer with Helmerich & Payne, Inc.

Presentation/Entertainment:
- Had a hard time seeing the speaker because of the monitor that was in the way. She was a very good speaker.
- I love how she personalized her story and applied it to EWI as well as the scholarships recipients.
- Engaged, interesting, personal, just long enough, but could easily have listened longer!
Catering:
- The servers were wonderful and very accommodating. The food was great!
- The food was not very hot. The food tasted good. They had good help.
- Vegetables were overcooked and soggy. I thought the meal was average at best.
Venue:
- I could see and hear the speaker easily. The room was a great temp and we had plenty of room to socialize.
- However, the space seemed a bit large for the amount of people who attended. I think I remember at least one unoccupied table. The sound system was good.
- The sound system was very good and so was the screen/projector. I didn't notice, but is there an elevator available for access.

Flowers were sent in Memory of Virgil Shelton who left us in April of this year.
The note below is from his wife, June Shelton.
"The flowers sent in memory of my husband were lovely. The family appreciates the love and support shown to us from the Tulsa EWI Chapter. Thank you for remembering a life well spent.
Virgil always loved and appreciated the ladies. He traveled with us many times to Annual Meetings and supported me over the years.
I came into the Chapter in 1977. The friendships made by both of us have been the most meaning full times in our lives.
EWI gives women the chance to mature and develop skills.
My best to all of you and hope the Chapter stays as one of the strongest in the whole of the organization.
June Ellen Shelton"

Etiquette Tips
for the Modern Woman
|
|
|
This month we will explore some of the more modern etiquette rules from “24 Etiquette Rules Every Lady Must Know”.
- If you need to leave a party or gathering early, take your host/hostess aside and let them know that you are leaving. Avoid saying goodbye to all the other guests as your departure might be taken as a cue that it's time for them to leave as well.
- When guests arrive at your home for the first time, show them where the bathroom is in case they need to freshen up.
- Never lay out the contents of your purse in a public place, including your desk or workstation in the office.
- When in a pulbic place, if you need to touch up your makeup or brush your hair, do it in the ladies’ room and never at the table. However, it is okay to touch up your lipstick at the table after dining in a restaurant.
- Remember to use etiquette rules at home, too. Never shout to someone from another room.
- When sitting in a low chair or sofa, remember to not cross your legs. Either hold your knees together and lean them to the side or simply cross one foot over the other at the ankles.
- When getting into a car, never “step” into it. Instead sit on the edge of the seat and then pull your legs in after being seated. When you get out of the car, put your feet on the road first and simply stand up.
