EWI OF TULSA 2022-2023 PRESIDENT
____________________________________

Hello EWI of Tulsa,

Fall is here and the scents of spice, pumpkin everything, and chills in the air have found their way back to us once again.  It becomes a time when we reflect on how thankful we are for everything in our lives.  I believe that we should not only be thankful during this Thanksgiving season, but we should also make an effort to be thankful every day of the year.

I feel honored to stand as your President this year and join in as all of us “Bloom Where We Are Planted”.  During the fall time, plants go dormant, new bulbs are planted, and the old parts of the plants die off.  It is a rejuvenating time for them so they can burst forth with their beautiful colors and lovely smells when it is the appropriate time.  As we make the transition from one board to another, I find that we are also going into our rejuvenation time.  New leadership offers new ideas, new discussions, and new growth.

As I began preparing for this year, I wanted to set some goals for us as a Chapter to strive for.  The first goal is to continue our momentum in retention and recruitment.  Lori’s year was a great effort by all and allowed us to win a growth award at LCAM.  We cannot stop there.  We must continue this upward acceleration and excitement of recruitment.  It is ever important to also nurture each other and retain our membership.  We can only bloom when we are “watered” and “fertilized”.  This means we all need to connect with members within our Chapter and continue developing those deep relationships.  The second goal is to continue our winning streak of the Chapter of Excellence that is awarded at LCAM.  This year would make it the 7th in a row when we accomplish that!  Finally, I would LOVE to add the Communications Award to our accolades.  This will be a great collaboration among our board and membership since our newsletter received recognition.  Winning this award shows creativity within our newsletter, timely posting on the corporate website with cohesive branding across all chapters, and activity among our social media platforms.

November’s meeting will be a great meeting with overviews of our committees and how you can serve within the Tulsa Chapter.  It is always a very exciting time and very informative as to what each committee does within our Chapter.  Plan to be there and jump in wholeheartedly.  We want to add you as a team member to a committee and help you bloom.

I am looking forward to seeing you at our November Chapter Meeting.  Now, let’s get ready to Bloom Where We Are Planted in 2022-2023.

Sincerely,
Tamara Conner

October Program Comments:

Comments on catering (Alia's Catering):
  • Salmon was delicious.
  • So delicious. Very good, we should definitely use them again for special events!
  • That was the best meal I've had at a meeting. Delicious!
  • Fantastic, flavorful and healthy.
  • No iced tea option was a bummer.
  • Everything was delicious!! Would be great to use her again in the future for another meeting.
  • Very nice menu.
  • Amazing choices and everything was delicious!
  • Above average.
  • The food was really good, but you could hear the servers chatting, etc., while the business meeting and the installation were going on.
  • Great cookies!
Comments on Meeting (Business Meeting & Installation):
  • I appreciated the thought and detail that went in to celebrating each new member and honoring those who previously served. The business portion of the meeting was also well put together.
  • Excited for the year ahead!!
  • Very nice evening!
  • I sensed a calmer atmosphere and respect for tradition which I hope continues.
  • Wonderful.
  • This was a very nice installation and business meeting. Everyone did a wonderful job. Very enjoyable.
  • Really needed a microphone. We could barely hear everyone who was speaking. I'm surprised Camp Loughridge didn't have a sound system.
Comments on Venue (Camp Loughridge):
  • Very dark in the parking lot, gravel, lack of parking.
  • Love the venue.
  • Beautiful surroundings and atmosphere. Only detraction was the gravel parking lot.
  • Unfortunately we needed AV.
  • It was not easy to get to and worse leaving after dark. I noticed several cars taking a wrong turn and having to back up.
  • The venue was an adventure and fun to get to.
  • Had no idea it was there. Loved going to a new place!
  • Beautiful - kinda scary leaving at night.
  • It was lovely scenery on the way to the lodge; however, this venue seemed too far for an evening event and quite challenging when leaving in the dark.
  • Hard to find. It was hard to hear speakers when catering was cleaning up.
Suggestions for Programs:
  • More cookies. Those were incredible!
  • Firm Nights & Mini Firm Night
  • The space was really too small for the business meeting and installation of board members.
  • I look forward to the next year!
