EWI OF TULSA 2021-2022 PRESIDENT
____________________________________

Hello Tulsa Chapter,

I hope this letter finds you well and enjoying the seasonal transition to Fall.  Life is full of seasons and transitions, and I have been reflecting on the past year serving as Chapter President of EWI of Tulsa.  Last year I set four goals for our Board to accomplish:

  1. Grow and Retain Membership;
  2. Win the Chapter of Excellence Award in 2022;
  3. Send 3 Delegates to the 2022 Annual Meeting; and
  4. Build Robust Committees

I am pleased to report our Board (along with your unwavering support) met and exceeded all four goals.  Accomplishing these four goals while we were still emerging from the pandemic was no small task and was truly a team effort.  EWI of Tulsa is successful because we are engaged, connected, and always rise to meet a challenge.

Serving on our Chapter’s Board these past three years has been a very rewarding experience.  It provided many opportunities for professional development, personal growth, community service, collaboration, and networking.  EWI provides everyone an opportunity to serve and lead at both Chapter and Corporate levels.  I plan to dive deeper into Corporate Committee and Board service.  At this year’s LCAM I was tapped to serve on two Corporate Committees: Nominating and Member Experience.  I am honored and excited for this next season of service and opportunity to give back to EWI.  Please consider signing up for a Committee.  This can be your season to serve and lead EWI too.

Our next Chapter Meeting is October 13th.  We will conduct our October Business Meeting and will install our Chapter’s 2022-2023 Board of Directors.  I am excited to see the great things Incoming President Tamara Conner and her Board accomplish.  This is her season to lead and serve and she will keep our Chapter moving in the right direction.

Thank you EWI of Tulsa and thank you to my amazing Board and Advisors. Together, we can do great things.

September Meeting Highlights

September Program Comments:

Comments on catering (Chippers - Seafood & Southern Fusion):
  • Different and very tasty!
  • Fantastic food and loved the choices!
  • The Salisbury Steak and Mac/Cheese reminded me of a Banquet TV dinner.  Vegetables were good.
  • Excellent service.
  • Average - I'm sure it was appropriate for the price - the location was convenient. The staff was very friendly and super eager to please.
  • While the staff was very attentive, the food was fair at best.
  • Nice to try something new but not really my taste, others seemed to enjoy it.
Comments on Venue (Chippers):
  • Room could have used an update but it was the perfect size for our group.
  • Really liked the large room. Was nice to be able to walk around and visit before dinner.
  • Venue was fine. Nothing special but more than fine.
  • The aroma toward the end of the evening was overwhelming, maybe should have opened the doors to the outside. Can't always anticipate the ventilation.
  • A long drive.
Comments on Speaker Wendell Franklin, Tulsa Police Chief.
  • While he appeared not to have a topic, he turned it into a very nice presentation.
  • Very personable and informative.
  • Appreciated Chief Franklin's candid comments and diplomacy.
  • Tulsa is fortunate to have Chief Franklin and his presentation was so authentic - I appreciated it very much!
  • Chief Franklin has a calming and approachable demeanor. I enjoyed his presentation.
  • Sobering, truthful and we needed to hear it. He carries a tremendous weight. Spectacular!
  • A very honest approach to our city's policing needs.
Suggestions for Programs:
  • Non-profit speaker Toni Moore w/Tulsa Hospitality.
  • Please consider taking the names of the door prize winners off the wheel for the remainder of the EWI year, ensuring that people do not win more than one door prize per year.
  • Good job!
  • Keep trying new venues, it's not easy to find room for us all. Doing great!
