EWI OF TULSA 2021-2022 PRESIDENT
____________________________________

Hello Tulsa Chapter.

I hope this letter finds you well and enjoying the last days of summer before Fall arrives.  Our August Chapter Meeting was held at our member firm Montereau.  The facility and food were lovely, and the Executive of the Year programming was fantastic.  Eva Blair of T.C. Blair and Associates was selected as our 2022 Executive of the Year.  Eva is well deserving of this prestigious award for many reasons, as she continually shows the importance of being an engaged member of our Chapter, displays strong servant leadership, and is always there to extend a hand to others.  Congratulations, Eva.  I am proud to serve our Chapter alongside you, but even more proud to call you a friend.

EWI’s Leadership Conference and Annual Meeting “LCAM” is scheduled for September 15-17 in Corpus Christi, Texas.  Our Chapter will have a strong presence at the conference this year as we have 6 members registered to attend.  During LCAM we will attend professional development courses, network with chapter members from across the United States and Canada, and will have 3 Delegates participating in the Annual Meeting.  I was recently notified that our Chapter has met the criteria to receive a Chapter of Excellence Award at LCAM.  This is our 5th consecutive year to win this award.  I am immensely proud of what we have accomplished this year.

Our Chapter Reading Rally will be held September 26th at McClure Elementary School.  We are looking forward to reading to the children.  We will also deliver over 450 books at the Reading Rally, enough to allow each student to select a book to keep at home.  I will report more to you about the Reading Rally and LCAM in the October Connect.

Lastly, I want to thank all who attended our virtual Teams Meeting on August 31st.  We will continue providing updates on this matter through the conclusion.  Please also know the Tulsa Chapter will continue to conduct our business with the utmost transparency.  Thank you for your support as we navigate this matter.  Please reach out to Jody Davis or me if you have any further questions.

As always, together we can do great things!

August Meeting Highlights

Congratulations Eva Blair
EWI of Tulsa's 2022 Executive of the Year

August Program Comments:

Comments on catering (Montereau):
  • Excellent menu and delicious!
  • Everything was tasty and the beef tenderloin melted in your mouth.
  • Very good—not a beef fan so would always like an option.
  • Menu selection was superb; only downside was that our table waited for two guests to be served the main meal while other tables began their dessert.
  • Very good but salad had too much pepper
  • Have wine passed during dinner.
  • Excellent food and service. One of the best meals we have had.
Comments on Venue (Montereau):
  • Montereau did an excellent job getting everything set up. Very nice!
  • A campus map would have been nice for those of us who hadn't been there in a long time, or ever.
  • Beautiful facility with great AV and sound. Table set-up and sound was wonderful.
  • Easy to get in and out of.
  • Lovely! I got there early so I didn’t have any trouble but I heard parking was an issue. Maybe next time do valet?
  • Montereau is always a favorite venue based on distance, atmosphere, plentiful seating, good lighting and cordial greetings.
  • Great venue...issues with parking for our senior members.
Comments on the EOY presentation:
  • Great EOY event.
  • Love Lynda and Scott and their support of EWI. Would have liked to see a speaker.
  • This program was very well done, especially with the surprise element of including Eva's family, flowers and slideshow.
  • Scott and Lynda were such good hosts. The evening was perfectly handled.

Suggestions for Programs:
  • The Venue, Catering and Presentation were all "Outstanding!" One of the Best Executive of the Year Chapter Dinners to Remember. Great job to all who made it a memorable success.
  • Best meeting in a long time. Loved Eva's reaction. She is a true gem.
  • I was wondering if to make the spin to win more fair maybe we could take the winners name out for period of time? I would like some of the other ladies to win.
  • A speaker for our executive programs — EOY and the breakfast.
  • Loved the networking, fellowship, and honoring our own Eva Blair.
We NEED EWI Mentors!
Remember when you first joined? Scary, right?
We would love to get a few mentors to help guide our

A Message from Debbie Burton

Everyone is encouraged to go to http://act.alz.org/goto/EWIMemoryMakers to register to join our "EWI Memory Makers" Walk Team and/or make a donation toward our team.  This year's Tulsa Walk is September 17th at 1875 S Boulder Park Drive, Tulsa, OK 74119, and I would love to be surrounded by my EWI sisters and friends during this Walk, which is good social exercise, too!

I now walk in memory of my Aunt Ronda who passed away September 2020 from dementia, and I carry a purple flower in her memory.  Who will you walk for?

Alzheimer’s disease is relentless. So are we.  Support our team for the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®, the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research.

TTCU Hits $2 Million Donation Mark

TTCU Federal Credit Union has surpassed the $2 million threshold in donations to its School Pride program, which started in 2007.

In August, TTCU pledged $143,000 to Oklahoma schools, with $21,250 earmarked for Tulsa Public Schools. Other area school districts besides TPS benefited from the program this year. Broken Arrow Public Schools received $18,000 and Owasso Public Schools $9,500. A total of $8,000 was pledged to Union Public Schools and $7,000 to Jenks Public Schools.

School Pride began as a way for TTCU to give back to area schools. Credit union members select from among more than 60 School Pride designs honoring area schools, and every time they use their debit card, TTCU makes a financial donation to the school.

TTCU is the second-largest credit union in Oklahoma with 19 branches.
