EWI OF TULSA 2021-2022 PRESIDENT

Hello Tulsa Chapter.

I hope this letter finds you well and enjoying your summer.

Our June chapter meeting was spectacular.  I enjoyed hearing Marie Stephens, Executive Representative for Nothing Bundt Cakes, speak to us about her life experiences, her path to entrepreneurship, and becoming a successful business owner.  Marie is leading a full life and is such an inspiration.  Thank you, Marie.

We held our Executive Appreciation Breakfast on June 15th at ONEOK and it was very well received by those who attended.  It was the perfect setting to thank our Executives for their ongoing support of EWI, as well as provide them an update on our chapter’s activities and accomplishments this year.  Thank you again to all of our Executives, your support of EWI is very appreciated.

Our next chapter meeting will be held on July 14th and our topic will be Connections and Membership.  This chapter meeting is a mandatory meeting as we will conduct our July business meeting where we will present the slate of officers for the incoming Board of Directors, approve our chapter’s Delegates for LCAM, and take a poll and discuss our chapter’s current practice of non-compete for membership.  Please mark your calendars to attend this important meeting and remember to RSVP to your meeting notice.

Looking forward the next few months:
  • Our Executive of the Year program will be held on August 11th at Montereau.  Please invite your Executive to attend.
  • Our September 8th chapter meeting will be focused on personal safety and our Tulsa community.  Our speaker will be Tulsa Police Chief Wendell Franklin.
Mark your calendars and watch for more details in upcoming Connect newsletters.  See you at our July Chapter Meeting. Together we can do great things.

June Program Comments:

Comments on catering (Catering by Orr):
  • Loved the balsamic dressing - Yum Yum!
  • Not Orr's best work.
  • Chicken was just a bit dry.
Comments on Venue (Tulsa Tech, Lemley Campus):
  • Probably needed a microphone but all in all it was very good.
  • Very nice location.
  • Love the new facility.
  • Possibly have a microphone next time, but the venue was very nice.
  • Great parking.
Comments on the speaker presentation:

  • She's a great speaker.
  • She was interesting and entertaining. Learned lots.
  • Really enjoyed hearing about Marie herself and her business.
  • Little long but really enjoyed Marie's presentation.
  • Marie is a great speaker with a great message. Loved her presentation!!!
  • Marie had so much enthusiasm - loved to hear her story!!

Suggestions for Programs:
  • Good job!
  • It didn't look like all the attendees were included in the Wheel for door prizes.  For July door prizes, will you take off the ones who won in June as you have done before.
  • Name tags are very difficult to read the names and companies.
  • Continue to have our members speak at meetings.
  • Continue to rotate the members that give the monthly inspiration.
  • Bunco - getting to know all of the newer members.
  • Killing it!

Member Spotlight

Meet Samantha Schultz!

Did you know… I am an Executive Administrative Assistant for JPMorgan Chase Commercial Bank in Oklahoma. The team I support are based in both Tulsa and Oklahoma City. I've been with JPMorgan since February 2019 starting in the Private Bank and previously worked for US Beef Corporation as an Executive Assistant. I absolutely love my job and the team I was blessed to work with.

It's been an amazing experience since I originally joined EWI as a rep for US Beef in 2016. The group has been an endless resource for learning and friendship. I especially love the philanthropic efforts we achieve, including the student scholarships and Reading Rally.

A little bit about me:

I absolutely ADORE cats. Some call me a crazy cat lady, although, we only have two at home.

My favorite place to vacation has been Maui, HI. I became obsessed with pineapple while on vacation here.

August will be my three year wedding anniversary with my husband, Matt.

We are expecting our first baby, GIRL, in November this year!

I make pepper jellies from my homegrown peppers

In and Around Tulsa!

From: Claire Levesque

To: Roberta Montgomery
Subject:  Claire Levesque EWI request

Ms. Montgomery –

I would like to express my deep gratitude for EWI’s assistance with my education at Columbia University. Without organizations like EWI the dreams of many young women would go unrealized.

I will be taking a class this summer to fulfill a required credit for my graduation. My declared major is Environmental Biology in the Department of Ecology, Evolution, and Environmental Biology. My summer course, “Masterpieces of Western Art”,will fulfill one of my humanities requirements towards this major. The summer tuition bill is due on July 1, 2022.

In addition to this class work, I am also working as a Resident Assistant in Columbia’s student housing (which covers the cost of living on campus for the summer) and working as an intern at the Bronx Zoo for the Wildlife Conservation Society. As a rising Junior, I am finding my time busy and exciting.

Thank you for your support of my education and me.

Sincerely,
Claire Levesque
