EWI OF TULSA 2021-2022 PRESIDENT
____________________________________
Welcome 2022. I am grateful to begin a new year with you and EWI. We have exciting programming scheduled for 2022, as well as monthly professional development webinars. I plan to accomplish a few personal goals this year, such as learning how to speak French and taking weekly yoga classes. I love setting goals that are achievable, sustainable, and challenging. What goals are you setting for yourself in 2022?

Our January Chapter Meeting will be held on Thursday, January 13th at the Health Zone. We will hear from Gradon Yohe, Director and Marnie Choisnard, Group Fitness Instructor, both of the Health Zone, who will discuss healthy and inspirational living for 2022. A healthy, delicious dinner will be provided by Tzakis. RSVPs are now mandatory so please RSVP in advance of the meeting so we will have an accurate dinner headcount.

I am so pleased to report the results of our December philanthropic project, which was a food donation to the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma. They report we donated 496 pounds of canned and non-perishable food items at our December Chapter Meeting. This will provide 595 meals to those in need in our community. That is outstanding and a great testament to our generous members. Thank you everyone for participating in this worthy event.

In closing, please watch your email for upcoming professional development webinars. Most are free and well worth the hour of time spent. See you at our January 13th Chapter Meeting.

Together we can do great things!

December Meeting Highlights

Food Bank

So proud of our members!
This year’s food drive brought in
496 POUNDS of food that will feed 595 FAMILIES!
Well done, ladies!

December Program Comments:

  • Delish. Love TW's.
  • Food was good and set up was nice.
  • I recommend we do not use TW's AFAB catering anymore.
  • Chicken was very dry and tough.
  • My only issue with the Bishop's building for December meeting is getting there. The traffic in December is terrible and road construction didn't help this year.
  • Always love the Bishop building for meetings.
  • Nice room, easy parking.
  • Very excited to have learned about what they do for the community.
  • Loved the presentations. We need to recruit the food bank to join our chapter asap.
  • So impressed with our chapter and the amount of donations!
  • EWI should volunteer at the Food Bank and have a meeting at their location. I’ve heard their chef is great.
December Suggestions/Feedback:
  • Change up locations from South Tulsa.
  • Love the uplifting programming that focuses the good we can do for others.
  • I would like to see some type of career training or work related topic.
  • Keep up the great work!
  • Maybe we go volunteer at the Food Bank? Could we have dinner there and then sort & pack?
  • Continue to bring in philanthropic opportunities to share with our chapter.
  • Bunco

In and Around Tulsa!

Direct from Broadway, MEAN GIRLS is the hilarious hit musical from book writer Tina Fey (“30 Rock”), composer Jeff Richmond (“Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt”), lyricist Nell Benjamin (Legally Blonde) and director Casey Nicholaw (The Book of Mormon). The story of a naïve newbie who falls prey to a trio of lionized frenemies, MEAN GIRLS “delivers with immense energy, a wicked sense of humor and joyful inside-jokery.” USA Today says, “We’ll let you in on a little secret, because we’re such good friends: GET YOUR TICKETS NOW!”   https://secure.tulsapac.com/overview/107

Tips on handling your end-of-year fatigue

Despite hanging beautiful decorations with Christmas music in your ear, many are also left preparing their home for holiday guests, cooking grandiose dinners and wrapping up holiday shopping – making it an exhausting time of year (especially when you’re supposed to be relaxed and taking a break from work stress).

Here are some tips to fight end-of-year fatigue:

• Get quality, good sleep (aim for 6-8 hours each night)

• Watch your caffeine and alcohol intake

• Limit your naps (tip: 20-minute naps between 1-3 p.m. are professionally recommended)

• Eat well

• Exercise often

• Identify where your stress stems from (seek professional counseling if needed)
