President's Letter

Greetings Tulsa Chapter!

I hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas and now New Year holiday time with family and friends.  I most certainly did, and I am very thankful to have my youngest son, Trey home for the holidays not to mention having my oldest son Ryan, his wife Baylie and my sweet new grandbaby Tate, all over for Christmas Eve dinner!  It was probably the best day ever for me, in 2020!
I wanted to give a huge “Shout Out” to our Chapter for supporting A New Leaf with their pizza party and protective masks!  We reached our goal to be able to provide holiday cheer for more than 125 people, what a nice way to help celebrate this time by giving to others!

The December meeting had a fun surprise with the new Wheel of Names. Thank you, Tamara Conner for the suggestion and Elizabeth Bugay for the introduction, we look forward to using this again in January!  Congratulations to all the winners each month, remember to thank the donor for the gift!

Our next Chapter meeting is coming up on January 14th and will touch on Personal and Professional Development.  The Programs Committee has invited author Jane Mudgett to be our speaker and we will offer her book to EWI Members at a discounted price ($14.95 retail / $5.00 EWI Tulsa Chapter price). We will also be inviting the Texoma Chapters and the Corporate Board to join us on the Zoom Meeting!  For February, we have an invite in, to the City of Tulsa for a guest speaker, we will keep you posted!

As always, I hope you all are staying connected!

Many Happy New Year Wishes,

Reta

2020 was a milestone year for many of our member firms. Please take a moment to recognize the contributions the following firms have made to Tulsa and to EWI of Tulsa.

If we missed recognizing your firm's milestone anniversary or if you have news to share, please contact elizabethbugay@gmail.com.

Helmerich & Payne, Inc. - 100th Anniversary

EWI of Tulsa Representatives: Jamie Harris, Roberta Montgomery, Trish Richey, and Heather Stephen.

As we take pride and celebrate Helmerich & Payne’s centennial year in 2020, we also reflect on all we have accomplished as a company and our colleagues, both past and present, who have contributed to this success.  In 1920, the story begins when Walt Helmerich II and Bill Payne started the company, Helmerich & Payne (H&P), on a handshake in the Texas oilfield. The men and women who carry H&P’s legacy forward work tirelessly every day to enable the production of affordable energy for the world. H&P is the leading U.S. unconventional driller, with drilling experience spanning the globe.  H&P currently owns and operates land rigs across North America, South America, the Middle East, and offshore platform rigs in the Gulf of Mexico. H&P has established itself as a true innovator and world-class leader continuing to expand its drilling operations to meet the increasing demands of a complex and globalized industry. The Company’s cutting-edge technologies are pushing the limits of the oil and gas industry and driving the development of advanced drilling automation solutions, helping customers achieve greater reliability and well performance.  It has been an honor to play a small part in their legacy and to celebrate this remarkable milestone for H&P.

T.D. Williamson - 100th Anniversary

EWI of Tulsa Representatives: Kim Bowman, Lori Heerlyn, and Jolynn Meyer

"I started my career with TDW in 1981 and never dreamed I would still be there almost 40 years later.  TDW has become my second family and I can’t imagine working anywhere else. My daughter Kasey studied abroad in Spain one semester. During her stay my co-worker and friend Martine Leleux (who works at TDW’s office in Nivelles, Belgium) hosted Kasey at her home and treated her like her own daughter. I was finally able to meet Martine in person in 2012 when I traveled to Belgium and England. TDW provided the opportunity for me to become a member of EWI in 1999 and supported me when I become President in 2013-2014 and continues to encourage personal and professional development. I am very lucky to work for such a great organization." Kim Bowman

A century ago, T.D. Williamson started a business – one that still carries his name today.  In the beginning, the company supplied the emerging petroleum industry with electric motors, generators, and other oil field equipment. Even then it was innovation that drove the company and collaboration that set the foundation for the future.  Working with leaders in the field, T.D. and his son, T.D. Williamson, Jr., were part of a team that created a steel pipeline scraper that revolutionized the pipeline industry and their company.

Now, TDW serves anyone transporting product through a pipeline – crude oil, natural gas, and other refined products.  All pipelines carrying these critical fluids need to be cleaned, inspected, maintained and repair – and T.D. Williamson has been there to meet these needs for 100 years.

Meals on Wheels of Metro Tulsa, Inc. - 50th Anniversary

EWI of Tulsa Representative: Elizabeth Bugay

A single goal has guided Meals on Wheels of Metro Tulsa since the first known Tulsa delivery by a small group of parishioners at First Presbyterian Church in May 1970 - to support our senior neighbors and to extend their independence and health as they age. We have grown to serving thousands of seniors and others in virtually every community in the Tulsa Metropolitan Area.
In addition to meal delivery and wellness calls,
  • We provide monthly supplemental pet food through our PAWS program to support pets, who are an integral part of comfort and support to homebound individuals, and to ensure meal recipients are not sharing food with their pets.
  • We help homebound individuals stay in their own homes as long as possible by offering assistance through a Home Safety program. We perform simple home repairs and a few larger repairs and projects.
  • We are also committed to improving the health and wellbeing of students through our Feed Our Future Program by providing snack bags to students to address hunger and food insecurity.

LD Kerns Contractors, Inc. - 20th Anniversary

EWI of Tulsa Representative, Reta Hallam, EWI Tulsa Chapter President

We are thankful to have provided commercial construction services in our community for 20 years and hope to continue for many more to come!
