March 2016

A Letter From Our President

When I wake to sounds of birding chirping, lawn movers running and the wind blowing, I realize that spring is just around the corner.  Spring is one of my favorite times of the year, it is a time of renewal and newness.  This is my time to make new commitments, change some processes and do some internal and external spring cleaning.  The trees come alive again, the grass grows, the days are longer, gardening is in full swing and people just seem happier during spring and summer months.  Did I say how much I love springtime?
I think ole man winter will make a grand entrance at some point this month.  Oklahomans are accustomed to getting a cold snap just in time for Easter.  Are you ready?
Our 60th Anniversary celebration is Thursday, March 10, 2016.  We are Celebrating the Past and Embracing the Future. 60 years is BIG deal and we continue our membership growth.
EWI Corporate is losing smaller chapters, but we have a strong healthy chapter and I am grateful for the dedication of our representatives.  Let’s celebrate EWI of Tulsa’s accomplishments.  This is only the beginning of our Legacy.
The Past Presidents have been meeting and planning this event for months and it is one meeting you surely do not want to miss.  I hope to see you ALL tonight.  There are door prizes galore, a sparkling item and many more.
Special thanks to our executives, representatives, sustaining members and past presidents for “Creating the Path” of EWI of Tulsa for 60 years.
The Tulsa chapter was charted on March 7, 1956.
Happy 60th Anniversary EWI of Tulsa.
Happy spring!
Continue to make history by the path you create.

RSVP to our next Chapter Meeting!

Good morning Felicia,

I wanted to thank you for your invitation to Tulsa’s 60th Anniversary celebration.  How amazing is this!  Since I received the invitation I’ve been trying to find a “reasonable” way to get there.  Southwest had a somewhat reasonable fare but they no longer fly out of Jackson.

The 2015-2016 EWI Board of Directors wants to support every chapter and every event as much as we can, but we also understand that our chapters expect us to be very mindful of our financial situation.

While I will sadly be unable to attend, please know that I would love to be a part.  Please send us pictures to include on our Social Media opportunities!

Congratulations to all of you in Tulsa!

Warm personal regards,

Dianne Luckett

Assistant to the President

Note from Debbie Ash:   It's that time to begin gathering willing participants to walk with me in the Walk to End Alzheimer's annual walk on Saturday, October 22, 2016.  The name of our team is "EWI Memory Makers" and the Walk will be held at Guthrie Green in downtown Tulsa.  More info can be found on my Walk page @  ("dash" refers to Debbie Ash).  I'm looking for teammates to donate and walk with me, either virtually or in person.  We hope to raise awareness and funds in the fight against the nation’s sixth-leading cause of death.
